Baby Was Diagnosed as “Failure to Thrive”

We were referred in March to a new mom with a baby who had seen several specialists and was diagnosed as “failure to thrive.” Mom has a friend who is a regular patient of Dr. Pomeroy, and mentioned he could potentially help.

Baby, who was three months old, was hardly keeping any food down, wasn’t gaining weight, had seen multiple pediatric specialists and was finally diagnosed as “failure to thrive.”

For a new mom, this is a devastating blow!

You are doing everything you can for your new infant and just want to see them grow healthy and happy.

Even the phrase, “FAILURE TO THRIVE” is so scary!! It can leave a new mom feeling like a failure, worried her precious baby is going to deteriorate.

When mom brought her delightful baby in to us, he was responsive to noises, alert, happy, showed plenty of emotion, and had good mobility in his arms and legs. Dr. Pomeroy noticed baby was tongue tied and asked mom if pediatrician or any of the specialists had mentioned this. They hadn’t.

Dr. Pomeroy gently adjusted baby and suggested mom look into the tongue tie issue. Mom did so and found that baby was not only tongue tied but also had a lip tie. But even after ONE ADJUSTMENT, baby was spitting up less than before.

After the lip and tongue tie issues were fixed, baby began to eat better and maintained getting adjustments. In just a few weeks, baby had gained weight, barely spit up anymore, and is happier than ever!

DERBY OFFICE IS MOVING!!!

We are so excited to be getting so close to being in our new facility SOON!!

The new address will be 224 Greenway in Derby. Between Casa Martinez and Nova Physical Therapy in the little Dillon’s strip mall.

We are looking forward to better parking, more handicap spaces, better traffic flow, and NO STAIRS! Among many other great improvements.

We should be able to move by the end of May but will keep you posted of any last minute changes both here in the newsletter, and on social media.

Staff Meeting Acrostic FUN!
