Managing Stress and Pain for Busy Parents: Chiropractic Tips Before the Holiday Rush
As a busy parent, you know the holiday season can quickly turn from joyful to stressful. Between planning, shopping, and keeping up with day-to-day responsibilities, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. And when stress sets in, it can often lead to physical pain—especially in your back, neck, and shoulders.
Before the holiday rush kicks into full gear, here are some chiropractic tips to help you manage stress and pain so you can stay healthy and enjoy the season with your family.
1. Make Time for You
The holidays are all about giving, but don’t forget to give yourself the gift of self-care. Even 10–15 minutes a day of stretching, deep breathing, or mindfulness can make a huge difference in reducing stress. Stretching helps release tension from muscles, while deep breathing slows your heart rate and calms your mind. Here’s a quick 10 minute stretch video that we love!
2. Watch Your Posture
Whether you're wrapping presents, cooking, or hunched over a shopping list, poor posture can put extra strain on your spine and muscles. Try to stand tall with your shoulders back and your head aligned with your spine. Sitting? Make sure your feet are flat on the ground and your lower back is supported.

If you’re dealing with neck or back pain, chiropractic adjustments can help keep your spine in alignment, reducing stress on your muscles and joints.
3. Get Moving
The busier you are, the easier it is to skip exercise, but staying active is key to managing stress and preventing pain. Even a quick walk around the block or a 20-minute yoga session can loosen tight muscles, improve circulation, and boost your mood. Moving regularly also helps prevent holiday weight gain that can put extra strain on your spine.
4. Chiropractic Care for Stress Relief
Did you know that chiropractic adjustments don’t just help with pain? They also support your nervous system, which can help manage your body’s response to stress. Chiropractic care helps regulate your body's natural healing processes, improving how your body handles both physical and emotional stressors.
If you’re feeling the effects of stress—whether it’s tension headaches, back pain, or stiffness—now’s the time to come in for an adjustment, BEFORE a stress-induced injury.
5. Hydrate and Rest
With so much going on, it’s easy to forget to drink enough water and get proper sleep. Dehydration can cause fatigue and headaches, while lack of sleep weakens your immune system and increases your body’s stress levels. Aim for at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night and keep a water bottle handy to remind yourself to stay hydrated throughout the day. The correct recommended amount of water is half your body weight in ounces per day. Example: If you weigh 200lbs, your goal is 100 ounces per day.
