5 Key things to do after your chiropractic appointment

After your chiropractic appointment, it's important to take care of your body to maintain the benefits of your treatment. Here are five essential things to do:
1. Avoid Prolonged Sitting
Sitting for extended periods can undo the benefits of your chiropractic adjustment. After your appointment, make an effort to stand up, stretch, and move around regularly. This helps prevent stiffness and supports spinal alignment, ensuring your adjustment holds longer.
2. Pay Attention to Your Body
Listen to what your body is telling you after your chiropractic session. If you feel any discomfort or pain, take note of it. Sometimes, mild soreness is normal as your body adjusts to the changes. However, if you experience persistent or worsening pain, contact your chiropractor for advice.
3. Eat Healthy Foods
Nutrition plays a crucial role in overall health, including musculoskeletal health. After your appointment, fuel your body with nutritious foods like fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. These foods support tissue healing and reduce inflammation, complementing your chiropractic care. If you are struggling with inflammation issues, know that dairy and breads are highly inflammatory and cutting back on these items can lower your inflammation and help you feel better.
Side note: Our Swish30 product is a master detoxifier and will help greatly with inflammation problems! Let us know if you need more information.
4. Keep Movements Easy and Gentle
It's important to move your body after a chiropractic adjustment, but AVOID strenuous or explosive exercises if your visit was to address pain. Sudden, intense movements can strain joints and muscles, undoing the work of your adjustment. Instead, focus on gentle stretches and low-impact activities like walking or swimming.
Why it's important: Gentle movements help maintain spinal alignment and prevent muscle tension from returning. They support the healing process initiated by your chiropractic adjustment, promoting long-term recovery and comfort.
5. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
Water is essential for overall health and helps maintain the elasticity of spinal discs. Your chiropractic adjustment addressed areas of the spine that were misaligned. This misalignment likely caused inflammation to build in that area and once the inflammation is released by your chiropractor, toxins go with it. If the toxins are not flushed out of the system through adequate hydration, they will return to the spot they had been previously or find another place to settle, causing reoccurrence of pain, or a slower healing process. After your appointment, drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. This supports circulation, nutrient delivery, and toxin removal, all of which are vital for optimal musculoskeletal function.
How much? Half your body weight in ounces. If you weigh 150 pounds, drink 75 ounces of water in the 24 hours following your adjustment.

By following these tips, you can enhance the benefits of your chiropractic care and support your body's natural healing processes. Remember, each person's recovery is unique, so always consult your chiropractor if you have any questions or concerns after your appointment. Taking these simple steps can make a big difference in how you feel and move every day.
ZONE OF THE WEEK
For the next six weeks, we will highlight one zone and provide more information about it, some supportive supplements, healthy habits related to it, and fun resources we hope you’ll enjoy!
Zone 1: Glandular
This system includes all of the glands in the body like the thyroid gland and pituitary gland. We have glands all over our body including our stomach and reproductive organs. Our glands are what produce the chemical messengers (aka hormones) that travel throughout the body telling the organs what to do.

Supportive Supplements for the Glandular zone: Omega Sufficiency, Swish30 Extra Strength
Supportive habits for the Glandular zone: light exercises, meditation, deep breathing. Try this Box Breath technique! CLICK HERE for a fun video.
Did you know?
Along with your adjustment, another great way to support healthy balance for this zone is to do something creative! Do you like to paint? Draw? Build stuff? Work with your hands? Digital Art? The possibilities are endless. Think about something that sparks your creativity and pick a project that you can complete easily in a couple of hours tops. The activity will be doable, and you will fell accomplished when you finish it!
